Everyone has frustration towards their parents. One frustration I have toward my father is that he never taught me Japanese. Every time I say to someone that my father is Japanese, the first thing they ask me is: “Do you speak Japanese?” And I answer disappointed: “no.”
So, if you are a foreigner anywhere in the world and have a child, do yourself and your kids a favor and teach them your mother tongue.
Do not wait the child to grow to take it to the language school, the earlier the child is exposed to language the better. It doesn’t matter if the child is illiterate, the most important is to talk, talk and talk so he/she will internalize the language structure and will start talking. New-born babies already know how to distinguish between completely different languages. If the languages are similar, the baby starts to distinguish them as of the sixth month. Continue reading
For now, the last post on Brazilian films. This time we will get to know a capoeirista, a soccer player, a child actor, a revolutionary and an artist of the colonial era.

The film about Paulo Coelho shows in a non-linearly way, three different moments of the writer’s life. Paulo Coelho as a teenager (Ravel Andrade), who has a conflicted relationship with his parents. He as an adult (Julio Andrade), in search of himself and collaborating with Raul Seixas and, he already mature, successful, redoing the Camino de Santiago.
The film shows the training and the daily life of the BOPE police, in Rio de Janeiro. Captain Nascimento (Wagner Moura) is responsible for the unit and wants to leave it, but first he needs to find a substitute. At the same time, we follow two friends, who are trying to enter the unit.
After making the first post on biopics of Brazilian musicians, a passion was stimulated, so I decided to do a series of posts about the Brazilian cinema. Today, the second part of Movies + Music – Brazil follows.
In the form of documentary, the film shows the path of Raul Seixas, the controversy “Sociedade Alternativa” and the partnership with Paulo Coelho. The movie features testimonials from colleagues, ex-wives, family members, musicians and critics.
